When will Jesus return?
The truth is, I have no idea, and neither do you.
Jesus said this in Matthew 24.
Matthew 24:36 (NIV2011) 36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
But Jesus said quite a bit about his return in Matthew 24. This passage has always stuck with me.
Matthew 24:14 (NIV2011) 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
It makes sense to me that Jesus won’t return until the entire world has had the opportunity to hear of his great love and his amazing offer of grace. So let’s do what we can to advance Jesus’ return. How? Pray for unreached people groups to hear and receive the Gospel message of complete forgiveness and life-altering purpose that switches their desires from selfishness to godliness.
My missionary friend, Eric Derry, introduced Westerville Christian Church to a website called www.prayer.global last November.
This website enables anyone to pray for unreached people groups. That is, people who have never heard of Jesus. As of this writing, there are 4,770 unreached people groups. 1,744 have been brought before God in prayer, which leaves 3,026 to go. Would you begin using www.prayer.global to lift these folks before God? Maybe praying for five minutes per day. Five minutes equals five people groups. If you are willing to give this a try, take these steps…
Using your phone or computer, go to www.prayer.global.
Tap on the three lines in the top right corner
Tap on Relay Teams
Scroll down to “showing 1 to 10 of 19 entries.” Click page 2
Scroll back to the top and click Westerville Christian Church
Start praying
Click “done” when you are finished or “next” to keep praying
This website offers suggested prayers for that people group, but I keep the Apostle Paul’s words in Acts 26 in the back of my mind.
Acts 26:18 (NIV2011) 18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
Paul’s prayer prompts…
Pray that their eyes are opened.
Pray that they turn from darkness to light.
Pray they turn from the power of Satan to the power of God.
Pray they might receive forgiveness and then live for God’s purposes, which makes them followers of Jesus.
Pray those prompts for anyone you know who is far from God.
One last request. Pray that Jesus comes back real soon.
