Looking after our neighbors is more than programming – it is our primary calling as followers of Christ. WCCares exists to create pathways for our church to find needs and meet them – from down the street to across the world.
Find a need and meet it.
Friday Fare
Friday Fare began in the 2008-09 school, and is a ministry of Westerville Christian Church. Friday Fare provides weekend meals to families in need in the Westerville School District. Recipients are recommended by school personnel who know each student’s situation and who select families in their buildings who need a little extra help. Volunteers, shop for food, pack, and deliver the food to our schools. Bags are distributed by the schools to our families each Friday—hence the name, Friday Fare. Recent data indicates that more than one in three students in the district faces food insecurity. Friday Fare currently serves 185 families each week, helping meet needs for students in 15 Westerville City Schools. Friday Fare bags provide two meals that will each feed a family of four. Last school year, we delivered 4,375 bags—nearly 38,000 meals.
The Wardrobe
The Wardrobe is a mobile clothing boutique designed to serve those in need of clothing in the Westerville area. All clothing distributed through The Wardrobe is shared free of charge.
This summer (June- Aug) the Wardrobe truck has travelled to 19 locations around Westerville and North Columbus including 11 WARM Kids Lunch Clubs, 2 Helping Hands Free Clinics, 5 Senior Living Communities, and a visit to WARM where we provided clothing to 21 family units. In addition we provided large donations of clothing twice to Landmark Recovery and Star House (homeless center for 14-24 yr olds near OSU campus) as well as extra baby clothes donated to Grandma's Helping Hands that provides clothing and baby furniture etc through Oasis Church. We also helped individuals brought to our attention by members of WCC, WARM, Westerville Fire Department and the Haitian Church.
Our best estimate is that we have provided clothing to nearly 1600 persons this summer of 2025. Providing at least 12,000 garments to our community.
Lifeline Christian Mission
Lifeline Christian Mission extends hope and elevates people to experience their God-given potential around the world. Our church has participated in meal packing and regular mission trips.
Mushayamunda Village
We are a faithful partner with the Mushayamunda Village in Zimbabwe, Africa that serves the needs of the people thereby providing a variety of things from malaria pills to digging wells. Two of the biggest ways WCC supports the Village are through the ZimKidz program and regular mission trips.
