Transitions are Happening in WCKids and WCStudents Ministries
With August comes transitions.
Our sweet little toddlers are old enough to start preschool. Our preschoolers enter the exciting phase of kindergarten. Our preteens venture into the halls of middle school. New freshmen jump into the wide world of high school. hen it’s time for some of our kids to leave the nest for college and life as a young adult.
Westerville Christian Church strives to partner with parents amidst all these transitions.
Changes in our staff and ministries reflect our desire to serve children, students, and families.
Angie Biniker is the WCKids Director and Central Park Manager. She oversees the operation of Central Park Playland as well as ministry to babies through 3rd graders. Angie’s love for serving Jesus is apparent in the way she loves our littles at WCC. Along with her team of kid-loving volunteers, she strives to create environments in the Nursery, Preschool, and Early Elementary areas that will help kids take strides in their faith journeys.
Becky Medley has stepped into the role of WCStudents Minister. This is a new staff position overseeing 4th-8th graders. 4th and 5th graders will have their own Sunday morning class focusing on topics and issues specific to their level of maturity. These preteens also can participate in a monthly Sunday evening Bible Study that will allow them to connect with peers, invite friends and grow in their love of Jesus.
6th-8th Graders will still meet every Wednesday night for 678 where they hear Biblical teaching, engage in small group discussion, and play a lot of crazy games! Starting in September, Sunday night small groups will be available for more in-depth Bible Study and community.
Luke Borton is now our NextGen Minister. He will continue ministry to high school students through Sunday night large group gatherings. Luke enjoys hanging out with high schoolers as they lean into their identity in Christ.
Luke is also developing a new ministry for young adults. Beginning through small groups, his desire is for young adults to share in community with one another and find their place of belonging and service in the church.
We are excited to see what God will do in this time of transition at WCC. If you’d like to find out more, get connected, or join one of our volunteer teams, visit the Connect tab on wcchurch.life.
