WCC Preteens go to SuperStart
SuperStart is a high-energy weekend event for preteens to hear the gospel, learn Biblical truths, and be called to a life of Kingdom Work. Eighteen 4th/5th graders and four preteen coaches from Westerville Christian attended SuperStart on April 12-13 at The Naz Church in Grove City.
We started the weekend off meeting Friday evening at WCC for a quick dinner before loading up in coaches’ cars to head to Grove City. Once there, students joined several hundred other preteens in exciting worship, fun stage games and drama, and engaging teaching. The theme for the weekend was 3E—through the Gospel Story we can know that because of Jesus Everyone can be a Kingdom Worker, and they can use Everything (all their talents, big or small) for Kingdom work, Everywhere they go.
After Friday night’s main session, we trekked back to WCC along with 3 other church groups (60 of us total) to stay the night! You heard that right, we had a sleepover at church! Boys in Venue471 and girls in the Arena—all on air mattresses, cots and in sleeping bags (after a rousing pizza party, of course!)
Then bright and early, we were on the road back to The Naz Church for another day of SuperStart fun! After two more main sessions, we headed over to Amazing Grace Christian Church, where about 75 preteens ate a Chick-fil-a lunch, danced to silent disco, jumped on an inflatable Velcro wall and played 9 square all afternoon!
It was an unforgettable experience for our preteens and adults! 4th grader, Logan Bussa loved the “church with the bounce houses,” but his favorite part of the weekend was the praise and worship. He said he learned that “Everyone can do Kingdom Work—something for God--and we can do it Everywhere with Everything.” He plans do some Kingdom Work by talking about Jesus with his friends on the tennis court.
One of our preteen coaches, Lindsay Neading shared, “SuperStart was such an amazing experience for both me and my daughter, Chloe. There is something special about worshipping with hundreds of preteens singing loudly with their hands raised. I learned right alongside them what it meant to be a Kingdom Worker and how Everyone can use Everything, Everywhere to point people to Jesus. It sparked so many wonderful conversations between my daughter and I at home. I can’t wait to go again next year!”
The theme verse for the weekend was Colossians 3:17—“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
